Karma’s a Canadien-Noel Gallagher of Oasis Knocked Off His Feet at Toronto Concert

September 9, 2008

Liam Gallagher gets jacked from behind by a fan during the band’s performance at Toronto’s Virgin Music Festival. I’m not a fan of the Gallagher brothers and they’re big mouths, but this was out of line. This could’ve turned out much worse.

OASIS fans should not expect Radiohead-style free albums from the Mancunian rockers.

Noel Gallagher is apparently looking to make his money back.

The elder Gallagher brother says fans will have to pay full whack for the band’s next album, Dig Out Your Soul, and dismisses Radiohead’s honesty-box policy of selling albums as “a great way of getting a load of marketing for free”.

He said: “That’s not our bag. I didn’t spend a year in the most expensive studio in England, with the most expensive producer in America and the most expensive graphic designer in London, to then give it away. F*** that.”

Jay Z at Glastonbury Festival 2008, UK

July 1, 2008

Jay Z caught some flack when it was announced he’d headline the Glastonbury Festival 2008 in the UK. Oasis member Noel Gallagher wasn’t pleased a hip hop act would be added to the historically rock-oriented festival.

“If it ain’t broke don’t fix it,” he said. “If you start to break it then people aren’t going to go. I’m sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance.

“Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go ‘Kylie Minogue?’ I don’t know about it. But I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.”

So, naturally Jay Z kicks off his set at Glastonbury by covering Oasis’ “Wonderwall” before launching into “99 Problems.”
