Here’s a pretty good one. Tori Amos covering Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.” Far superior to The Smashing Pumpkins version released in 1994…and hey, I like the Pumpkins, too.
**Bonus** I love Tori’s cover of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” too. Check it out.
Refresher: Original lead singer Layne Stanley died in 2002. And, here’s footage of Alice in Chains’ current frontman, William Duvall, who has been singing with the band for 2 yrs. What do you think of his rendition of “Man in the Box” from a live show in 2006? New album hopefully do out by beginning of 2009.
The “coupe de grace” that killed crappy metal, this song and the recording of Smells Like Teen Spirit changed the face of music. In part 4, Nevermind producer Butch Vig again solo’s out sections of the multi-track, showcasing the vocals, the solo, and the energy. Truly awesome insight into an infamous song. Also, I dig how Kurt’s voice sounds like he’s been gargling acid by the end of the track.
Even though Pro Tools seems to be up in the mix, I’m glad to see Butch is still working on his SSL.
