Chicago Catholic Priest Father Michael Pfleger delivered quite a doozy of a “sermon” this past Sunday at Obama’s home church, Trinity United Church of Christ. Hard to tell what’s worse; his message, or the fact that he’s doing it from a pulpit. The theology of victimhood and less than subtle racism continues. Obama had NO idea this was going on in his 20 yrs at his church, either. Nope. None. Nothing to see there, just keep moving along…..
One point this “sermon” makes is that apparently I should forfeit my 401k plan as a form of reparations since, even though I’m not old enough to have owned any slaves, I have apparently prospered because of slavery, and I guess I have my ancestors to thank for that. Of course, my grandparents were the first in their families actually born in the U.S. in the 1920’s, so………. Oh, wait, wait, I don’t have the entire sermon here, so just disregard all of this as being “out of context.” It’s nice and convenient that way.
**Update**Obama has removed Father Pfleger’s endorsement from his campaign website. And he also issued this statement.
“As I have traveled this country, I’ve been impressed not by what divides us, but by all that that unites us. That is why I am deeply disappointed in Father Pfleger’s divisive, backward-looking rhetoric, which doesn’t reflect the country I see or the desire of people across America to come together in common cause,” Obama said.
That statement wouldn’t ring so hollow if this was Obama’s first publicity guffaw regarding race relations. Or if he hadn’t been friends with Father Pfleger for 20 yrs, hadn’t flown him to a campaign event, or if this had been Pfleger’s first appearance at Trinity. Somehow Obama just keeps finding himself surprised and disappointed by the views of his personal spiritual advisers. Poor guy, he should remember that you’re often known by the company that you keep.

Why does he have his eyes closed the whole time? It seems like he is putting on a comedy show. Also, I thought that you couldn’t talk about politics from the pulpit without risking the loss of your non-profit status. Where is the IRS????

I have to say, that I have been an obama supporter for most of this primary season, however, I recently thought long and hard, and im on the Clinton bandwagon now. I dontated to the campagin this morning. Obama has no chance of winning in november. Everyone has to understand that the company that he keeps (wright, ayers, michelle obama, Pfleger, et al) is going to be his downfall. Even if he denounces all of them, in the mind of many voters, he is going to be connected to this. He is unelectable. If he cant even get the whole party behind him with these scandals going on, how is he going to defeat the republican machine in november? it’s not going to happen. For the better of the Nation, let alone the Party, the Dems have to nominate Clinton.
Its all downhill from here Obama. Whatever way you look at this, its the beginning of the end for you. either you are the nominee and lose in november, or the Dems wise up and give the nominee to Clinton, and you lose now. Either way, you lose. It has to happen. We cant afford 4 more years of bush policy with McCain.
This is coming from a former Obama supporter. Please, I urge all of you to open your mind and eyes. We can’t afford a McCain presidency
