Homeland tyranny continues

“What you assert is the power of the military to seize a person in the United States, including an American citizen, on suspicion of being an enemy combatant?” Judge William B. Traxler asked.

“Yes, your honor,” Justice Department lawyer Gregory Garre replied.

Yes, your govt is vigorously defending a policy that allows the military to swoop you up, hold you indefinitely, deny you access to an attorney or even a trial on the SUSPICION you might be a terrorist.  I know, I know….if you’re not guilty, what do you have to worry about right?  Because we know the federal government and military intelligence has never erred.  Somewhere along the line, we seemed to have forgotten that giving the governement nearly unchecked police powers is very, very dangerous.   Somewhere the Constitution is weeping.  More here

“Failure of government programs prompts more determined efforts, while the loss of liberty is ignored or rationalized away. Whether it’s the war against poverty, drugs, terrorism, or the current Hitler of the day, an appeal to patriotism is used to convince the people that a little sacrifice of liberty, here and there, is a small price to pay. The results, though, are frightening and will soon become even more so.”

Congressman Ron Paul
